The Making of a Musical

HOW A MUSICAL IS MADE - an entertaining musical show!

The Karlín Musical Theatre is proud to present its third premiere performance in the 2018 / 2019 theatre season. After the premiere of the cult musical LEGEND IN THE NAME OF HOLMES (October 2018) and the premiere of the co-production operetta THE GREAT GIFT (January 2019), in March 2019 it presented an entertaining and somewhat educational musical show from the pen and directed by Antonín Procházka.

How would the author himself introduce it?

Thus ... How easy it is to fly when you're a bird. How easy it is to make a musical when you have talent and the ability to face difficult things. There's really nothing difficult about making a musical. All you have to do is manage to sing while suffering from laryngitis, play with a fever, tap dance with a sprained ankle, look cheerful even if your favorite cat got run over in the afternoon, be dressed in armor for two hours, or stand in a draft clad only in your talent. That's very easy for a lot of people.

Everything on stage feels so easy, playful, spontaneous during a performance. And that's how it should be! "You've gone mad again." Is a very common remark from the audience. For those who want to know what is hidden behind the "lightness, playfulness and fooling around", our revue HOW MUSICAL IS MADE is for you.

If we call it a performance, it is not true, if - God forbid - an educational concert, it smacks of boredom. Boredom is the last thing you'll encounter in our theatre. Comedy has the gift of being able to convey things in a serious way in a way that is most enjoyable to people - namely, through humour. We'll take you on a ride through the whole wonderful martyrdom: from choosing the title, to auditioning, to the first read-through, to arranging rehearsals on stage. Join us backstage, in the workshops, make-up and prop rooms. You'll experience the jitters before opening night and the euphoria after.

At the end of the journey, you'll find you're a little smarter again. And surprisingly, it didn't even hurt! Well, because your guides will be the most competent masters:

Iva Pazderková, Markéta Procházková, Bára Šampalíková, Dominika Býmová, Ines Ben Ahmed, Václav Noid Bárta, Martin Písařík, Denny Ratajský, Ivo Hrbáč

and Antonín Procházka.

So have a safe journey and see you at the Karlín Musical Theatre.
