Troška Zdeněk

Born 18.5.1953 (69) in Strakonice, living in Hoštice u Volyně.

He graduated from the Lycée Carnot in Dijon, France, in 1973, the same year he entered FAMU, majoring in film and television directing.

He graduated in 1978, and a year later joined Barrandov as an assistant director. His last assistant job was working with Barbra Streisand on her directorial debut, Yentl (1982).Later that year, he made his debut, A Shoe Named Melichar, which was well received by the children's and adult audiences. It was followed by Sun, Hay, Strawberries, The Treasure of Count Chamare, About Princess Jasněnka and the Flying Shoemaker, Sun, Hay and a Few Slaps. The Princess of the Mill, etc.

He has made ten film fairy tales, many comedies, and the romantic drama Angel Face, which he considers his best filmmaking.

His last film, his twenty-fifth, was the fairy tale The Enchanted Feather (2020), which marked the end of his film career.

He has also directed several operas - Don Carlos, National Theatre of Prague 1989, Carmen, Prague State Opera 2004, Rusalka SOP 2005, Rusalka and Faust and Margaret for the State Theatre Košice, 2006,2007, The Magician at the South Bohemian Theatre and for the revolving auditorium in Český Krumlov 2011, the ballet The Devils, Pilsen 2009, the musical Hamlet, Kalich Theatre 2010.

He enjoys reading, listening to classical music, mushroom picking, and good food.

Now he enjoys a pleasant retired life of doing nothing.
