Renč Filip
Film and theatre director and screenwriter. Born in 1965 in Prague. Graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts, Film Faculty. In 1991 he wrote the script and directed his first feature film "Requiem for a Doll", in 1995 he made his second feature film "War of Colours". In addition to feature films, he has also made music videos. To name a few, "Love is Love" (1993) and "Teddy Bear" (1998).
In 1998 he directed the musical theatre projects "The Mission" and the South Korean version of the Czech musical "Dracula" adapted in Seoul.
In 2001 he directed the film musical "Rebels", which was nominated for five Czech Lions and was awarded the best Czech film musical of the century at the Pilsen Film Festival. In 2005, he received the Czech Lion for the best Czech film of the year for "A Novel for Women". In 2009, his two films "At Your Own Risk" and "Watchman No. 47" premiered. The film "Watchman No. 47" won three Czech Lions and won both the Best Director and Best Film awards at the Tiburon San Francisco Film Festival in the USA.
In 2002, he directed the Broadway musical "Cleopatra", followed by the musical "Rebels". In 2007 he co-wrote and directed the musical "Golem", at the Hybernia Theatre. Subsequently, he also directed the musicals "Baron Prášil", "Angels Behind the School".
In 2013 - 2014 he directed the TV series "Ambulance 2", which was shown in many European countries. In 2013 he made the TV movie "Sebemilenec" and the trilogy "Intruders and Hunters" for Czech Television.
He has shot several dozens of commercials for major advertising agencies worldwide. He is also the author of several documentaries.
The musical "Dracula 2015" is his directorial debut at the Karlín Musical Theatre.
