Wildhorn Frank
The style of Frank Wildhorn's music is difficult to define: it is a mixture of popular, theatrical and classical music. In 1999, Frank Wildhorn became the first American composer in 22 years to have three Broadway titles performed simultaneously. It was Jekyll & Hyde - two TONY Award nominations, The Scarlet Pimpernel - four TONY nominations, and The Civil War - two nominations. All of these shows traveled all over the United States and were seen by audiences in many countries on every continent.
Frank has also written several new songs for the musical Victor/Victoria, and one of his latest works, Dracula, recently opened on Broadway: The Musical. The immortal tunes from Jekyll & Hyde are often heard at the most festive of occasions: the opening of the Olympics and other top sporting events, at annual political party meetings, and even at the inauguration of President Clinton, performed by Jennifer Holliday.
Frank Wildhorn's songs are in the repertoire of such stars as Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, Kenny Rogers, Sammy Davis Jr, Liza Minnelli, Julie Andrews, Freddie Jackson, Patti LaBelle, The Moody Blues, Jeffrey Osborne, Johnny Mathis, Colm Wilkinson and many others.
Most recently, he was the composer for Arthur Kopit's production of The Road to Nirvana and wrote the music for the musical Mata Hari. Currently, with Jeremy Roberts at the new Global Vision Records, they are working on a concept for a recording of Dracula: The Musical.
Frank Wildhorn was so pleased with the Prague production of Jekyll & Hyde at the Karlín Musical Theatre that he came up with the idea of writing the original musical Carmen for the Karlín Theatre, which had its world premiere there in 2008 and after a short break will begin its 6th season.
The latest work Frank Wildhorn is presenting on the stage of the Karlin Theatre is the musical Bonnie & Clyde.
