Vágner Josef
19Josef graduated from The English College in Prague and from two universities in Business Management and Corporate Finance at VŠFS and Enterprise Information Systems at the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics at VŠE.
He got his first chance on the music scene from composer Karel Svoboda in the musical Monte Cristo. Since then he has performed roles in musicals Cleopatra, Dracula, Les Misérables, Antoinette - Queen of France, Mata Hari, Adam and Eve, Hangman, Jack the Ripper, Miss Saigon, The Three Musketeers, The Soap Prince.
He received his singing training from Lída Nopová, a professor at the State Conservatory, and is currently taking private lessons from Pavel Towen Vesely.
Josef became famous for the song Mne sílu dáš, an Irish ballad with lyrics by Eduard Krečmar, which became the title song of his debut album. Other successful albums followed, such as Always Just as Beautiful, and I Don't Deny. Together with Lucie Vondráčková he recorded the title song for the film trilogy Babovřesky, a blockbuster directed by Zdeněk Troška.
In December 2007, he won the Discovery of the Year award in the Czech Nightingale poll.
In dubbing, Josef has lent his voice to many cartoon heroes, including Mowgli - The Jungle Book 2, Simba - The Lion King, Kangaroo Rú - Winnie the Pooh, and Špuňťa, the main character of the fairy tale 7 Dwarfs.
