Štágr Josef
A graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts and later the Prague Conservatory, he first appeared in a musical on the stage of HDK in the first performance of the famous West Side Story (1970-71). After graduation he performed as a singer and musician from 1975 and collaborated in concert and in the studio with many personalities of our pop scene. He returned to the musical in 1992 for the first performance of Les Misérables - Les Misérables. Here he met the director Petr Novotný, who cast him as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar (1994-98). This was followed by the roles of Che and President Peron in Evita (1998-2000), Father Capulet in Romeo and Juliet (2001-2003), Inspector Javert in Les Misérables (2003-2007) and Engineer in Miss Saigon (2004-2006). In addition, he is an occasional concert performer (in 2004, for example, he was a guest at K. Gott's birthday concert in New York). After several years at the J. Ježek Conservatory, he has been teaching singing and performance at the Popular Music Department of the Prague Conservatory since 2006.
