Kumžák Martin

He graduated from the J. Ježek Conservatory, the State Conservatory in Prague and the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He was a member of the M. Svoboda Contraband. He arranged and conducted West Side Story, Hair, Rusalka. With J. Ledecky he created the musicals Hamlet, Galileo. For HDK he arranged the musical Lucie. He composed music for the Czech-American film Manor. He has collaborated with Dasha, D. Hůlka, H. Křížková and others. He created big band arrangements for the tour of Kabát. In 2000, he conducted the Excalibur project (in Bercy, Alan Simon). The Prague State Opera presented his operatic debut Divine Comedy (libretto by L. Holzer). In 2002 he performed his suite in the Spanish Hall of Prague Castle. He collaborates with the Afflatus Quintet, Epoque Quartet and PKF. In 2004 he arranged the concert pro- ject Lucie. In 2013 he recorded the symphonic composition Zvěrokruh. In 2015 he performed his oratorio St. Wenceslas in the Municipal House in Prague, which was awarded the OSA prize. He is a sought-after arranger and keyboard player. Since 2000, he has accompanied with Pajk Pajk e.g. the Queens of Pop in Opera or the Queens of Swing. His collaboration with CT - Stardance or when the stars dance is important. He collaborated with A. Sandoval, J. Morrison, B. Shew.
