Hůlka Daniel
He graduated from the Prague Conservatoire under prof. Z. Jankovský. He originally sang opera at the Municipal Theatre in Ústí n. L. and at the National Theatre, and was a guest at the theatres of J.K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, F.X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec, the Estates Theatre, and the Musical Theatre in Karlín. He has played the roles of Don Giovanni, Escamillo (Carmen), Figaro and Count (The Marriage of Figaro), Sylvia (The Comedians), Kalina (The Secret), Premysl (Libuše).
In 1995 he became famous for his title role in the musical Dracula, K. Svoboda, Z. Borovec and R. Hes. In 1997, he released his first solo album and subsequently undertook a concert tour called Mission. In 1999 he played King Brambas in Zdeněk Troška's film fairy tale From the Hell of Happiness. In the same year he was a member of a delegation to the Vatican, sang in St. Peter's Square and was received by Pope John Paul II for a personal audience.
He also performed leading roles in the musicals Les Misérables, Jekyll & Hyde, Monte Cristo, The Mission, Excalibur, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and played Hector in Shakespeare's dramatisation of the Greek fable Troilus and Cressida at the Theatre on the Balustrade.
In 2009 he was nominated for the Thalia Award for his role of Dracula.
In the following seasons he staged and uniquely performed other musical characters - Baron Prášil, Kato Mydlář and again the role of Javert in Les Misérables.
In 2014 he completed a successful tour of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, culminating in two concerts at the Broadway Theatre in Prague. He also appeared as a special guest as Caesar in a new production of the legendary musical Cleopatra.
