Jozef Celder. (Trenčín 1950)
Originally from Zvolen, he has lived in London since 1969. In 1973 he joined the theatre as a theatre lighting technician, he was immediately interested in working in the theatre, so he eventually chose his life career from a side job. His home theatre became the world-famous Royal Shakespeare Company, where he progressed through various roles from lighting designer to head of lighting at the Barbican Theatre in London where he simultaneously fulfilled the role of assistant design and lighting designer until 1997 when the RSC discontinued its permanent London venue at the Barbican. By that time his career had already been successfully extended by the role of producer. In 1994 he was co-producer and also a member of the creative team when he licensed one of the world's first musicals for the former Czechoslovakia. The production of the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar at the Spiral Theatre played more than 1,200 performances, which to this day remains an unsurpassed record in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. JCHS was followed by another first Czech production of the musical Evita (1998-1999) and also the first production of the musical Cats (2004-2005) in Prague's Millennium Theatre. Jesus Christ Superstar returns to Prague in 2010, when he is the author of the lighting design at the Karlín Musical Theatre.
