Barre Gabriel
Gabriel Barre had the honor of directing the first title of the new season at Westport Country Playhouse in Connecticut, a new musical by the legendary duo of Kander and Ebb, All About Us, starring Cady Huffman, Shuler Hensley and Eartha Kitt. Barre also directed the tour of the popular musical Pippin, which premiered at the Goodspeed Opera House.
Of his best-known off-Broadway directing credits, The Wild Party is particularly noteworthy, having been nominated for 13 Drama Desk Awards and 5 Outer Critics Awards, including Best Director (for which he was also awarded a Calloway Award). Other off-Broadway directing credits include Summer of ´42, Stars in Your Eyes, Honky-Tonk Highway, John & Jen and Almost, Maine.
For Rodger and Hammerstein, he directed their musical Cinderella, as well as the popular musicals Sweeney Todd, Finian's Rainbow, Houdini and many others, including the world premiere of Frank Wildhorn's Camille Claudel and Nana Knighton starring Linda Eder. Other titles include Stand By Your Man, Hay Fever, Private Lives and Pericles at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. As an actor, Gabriel Barre appears frequently in film and television and has been nominated for a TONY Award.
