On the occasion of the 80th birthday of the phenomenal composer and hitmaker Karel Svoboda, the Karlín Music Theatre prepared an exclusive concert in which his songs were used as a tribute to a whole plethora of popular artists for whom he wrote many hits in his time, as well as younger singers who are currently singing his songs for this concert, but often continue to include them in their repertoire. Karel Svoboda prematurely ended his prolific life in January 2007, but we commemorated his untimely birthday with this concert on the very day he was born 80 years ago - 19 December.
The concert was staged by Mgr. Pavel Polák, artistic director of the theatre, and Radan Dolejš, musicologist, music historian and well-known dramaturge of concerts and TV entertainment programmes. Musical staging and conductor Martin Kumžák, dance choreography Petra Parvoničová. The concert was divided into individual thematic blocks, of which we should mention, among others, MOVIES AND SERIES (Three Nuts for Cinderella, Night at Karlštejn, The Visitors, Flying Chester and Adventures in Criminalistics), MUSICALS (Dracula, Monte Cristo, Night at Karlštejn and The Golem), YOUNG AND UNCLEAR, etc. The culmination of the concert was a block of songs by Karel Gott and the final finale song by all the performers.
The concert was recorded by TV Prima and shown on TV screens on Sunday, 30 December 2018 at 20:15.
