An atypical original theatre performance produced by PIXA - PRO, a new theatre company So and So.
A story that opens up the topic of relationships, drugs, addictions, loneliness and above all the fragility of the human mind. The show is a fusion of drama and song - but to label it a musical would be inaccurate.
The author of the script and director in one - Kateřina P. Průšová outlines the themes that their work deals with:
"About people and their fragile minds. Who are we, and who are those next to us?"
"One place. Different people. Different circumstances and different human minds and mindsets. Everyone wants something, and everyone needs something. Someone needs pills, someone needs love, and someone needs understanding. To what extremes can the human mind go? How much can it shatter into fragments?"
Why come to this show:
- we are a team of young artists, so we are passing on our ideas and issues to our generation
- the theme is the human psyche - the characters are dealing with depression, deaths in the family, dealing with love and sibling relationships, trying drugs and finding themselves - like most teens, and that's why kids can look up to them, identify with them
- the characters in the story are from different walks of life
- the show is enlivened with songs
- the tragic is interspersed with the comical, even the absurd
- so you have a chance to look into the problems of others and see, that you are not the only ones having hard days, conditions, that you are not the only ones looking for your place
The creative and acting team consists of mostly young artists who are not afraid to open up about their problems and demons. They combine psychological drama with comic elements, even absurdity.
Dominick Ross is the playwright and also the songwriter, giving him his first chance to charm the audience with his quirky lyrics:
"Before I write anything, I have to dig deep into the heart of the subject matter. This was made possible for me in A Game of Shards by dramaturgical forays into the script. The characters themselves revealed their innermost selves in the play, and I was able to translate their feelings into metaphorical terms, because I stood, if only for a moment, at the bow of the world of their problems. The writing time teetered on a spectrum between long explorations of content and form and impulsive outbursts of words.
It's all about point of view and the depth of the foray into the heart of the subject."
His lyrics were written by the already proficient composer Vojtěch Adamčík, who brings the show to life with music, helping to illustrate the atmosphere of the show as a whole:
"I had a slightly easier job when composing the music for The Shard Game due to the fact that I only came into the preparations when all the lyrics were already completely written. So the most important thing was to get the atmosphere of each musical number right from the lyrics and the script. Which turned out to be a difficult task, given the challenging theme of the piece. But I think that in the end all the components fit together nicely and the audience can look forward to an extraordinary experience. Above all, they will be enchanted by the great performances of the cast, the brilliantly constructed script and the incredible energy that radiates from everyone involved. I cordially invite everyone and I am honoured to be involved in something so original."
Pixa-pro, which is known primarily for its family-friendly productions, is doing something different with TAK and TAK. So it is not a typical musical for children and their parents with a moral lesson. It gives a chance to the young generation who want to break through to their peers, but also reach out to a more haunted audience. To uncover the demons that each of us has, but everyone fights them differently. So leave your young ones at home and enjoy an evening alone or bring your "teens."
